How to unlock a Samsung E720 mobile phone

I found this out because Orange sucks.

It costs £20 to get your phone unlocked by Orange and the only way to do this is to contact them by phone, and the only way to contact Orange’s Customer Services is to call 150 from your handset or call 07973 100150. What if you’re deaf? What if your handset is broken? What if you cannot call mobile numbers from your landline?

This is why Orange sucks. Naturally, I didn’t pay orange a penny.

These are the steps to unlock the Samsung E720 phone:

  1. Put in the sim you want to use, turn it on.
  2. Enter “00000000″ (8 zeros) as the sim code if it asks, it should now say “wrong sim”.
  3. Type *#9998*3323# in to your phone
  4. Press the top right button and hit Exit, the phone will reboot
  5. After you do this, you should be able to get onto the menu from there go to the settings menu and select security, go to SIM lock and it should be enabled, select disable and enter the code “00000000″ (8 zeros).
  6. Switch off the phone
  7. Switch on the phone still with the sim you want to use in.
  8. Enter your pin code if requested, then enter the sim code as “00000000″ (8 zeros).
  9. It should say “wrong sim” again.
  10. Type *#9998*3323# in to your phone again.
  11. Select option 1 (Task loop), the phone will reboot.
  12. Type *#9998*3323# in to your phone again.
  13. Select option 7 (“Jump to Null”), the phone will reboot.
  14. Type in *0141# (This sets the phone to the network on the sim thats in)
  15. Power off, and power on, it should work fine.

Done!

Note: You may need to do a “system restart” from the menu too.

I have 2 E720s currently locked to T-Mobile. I put in my Orange PAYG sim - get the ‘wrong sim’ message - but when I enter the code I get ‘emergency services only’ followed by wrong ’sim again’. All security settings have been set off - any ideas would be appreciated.

This happens sometimes. Just keep trying until it works. It does work eventually. You just have to go through the steps a few times sometimes.

ok I followed these instructions fine and failed at a couple of places and didnt need the password and sim lock stuff (bad security I know) but basically I managed to get to the virgin network…I just didnt know how to save the virgin network and I found that I had to press an extra key after *0141# it being the lefthand phone symbol(action phone no) - I still get orange display but it finds the virgin network ok
    thanks for advice

The method metioned above works perfect. Although this is a temporarry soloution but who cares. I only do the first step which is enter a sim card you want to use in Samsung E720, type *#9998*3323#. Phone will show last 4 digits as —-. After this press the right hand side TOP key (The one has THree DOTS on it). Now press key 7 on your keypad and then press Left Hand Side TOP key (The one has THree DOTS on it). After few seconds your phone will restart and will work with the sim in it. But remember its not unlocked. It will only work untill battery does not die or you dont take it out yourself to change the sim. If it happens then just follow the above method again. The reason I am here is that I misplaced my phone and battery died and I forgot the last 4 didget of code. My phone is working again now. The reason I dont do the second step which is typing in 8 Zeros and another code *0141# because after doing this your orignal sim will not work as normal and you have to enter the password. Thats why I only do the first step untill phone rstarts and works with new sim.

If the above method does not work with your E720 then try the following:

Turn on your phone without sim card in it.

    Type #*7337#

If your phone restars in few seconds mean its unlocked. Try a different network sim in it.

    GOOD LUCK!

this worked for me like a charm.

i had an Orange locked E720.
    used the method described above:
enter a sim card you want to use in Samsung E720, type *#9998*3323#. Phone will show last 4 digits as _ _ _ _. After this press the right hand side TOP key (The one has THree DOTS on it). Now press key 7 on your keypad and then press Left Hand Side TOP key (The one has THree DOTS on it). After few seconds your phone will restart and will work with the sim in it.

i sugest people to try this method first as there is no harm in doing so.

also if you cary on and enetr the rest of the method in the first post you will be unable to use the Original Simcard in the phone again.

using the method i posted in this post you can use your NEW simcard and go back to your Original one if you desire.

thanks for the help with my phone .

and i hope i have helped to clear things up for anyone who reads this post.
